Description:

 

Attributed to the Osafune Nariie by NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers in 2009. Osafune Nariie is a part of the Bizen Kozori group. Classified as ryō-wazamono and having a total of 20 known Juyo token and one designated as Juyo Bunkazai. His signed works are few, there is one wakizashi known to be signed and dated to 1362.

 

This sword is a beautiful Osafune Nariie katana, with an absolutely stunning gunome-choji-midare hamon, and stunning jihada, mainly consisting of mokume patterns and itame hada. This katana has a typical Nanbokucho sugata, with a wide mihaba and a chu or closer to O-kissaki. The sword is mounted in an elegant brown ishimeji-nuri koshirae, featuring a finely textured stone-finish lacquer saya. The understated brown lacquer complements the blade well. The sword also has a shirasaya for storage. In total the sword is a very nice package, being an exemplary nanbokucho katana in koshirae.
