Description:

Attributed to the Mihara School by NBTHK Hozon papers in 2025. The Mihara school flourished in Bingo Province from the late Kamakura period through the Muromachi period. The mihara school can be divided through 3 attributions, Ko-mihara for swords made until the end of the Nanbokucho period, kai-mihara for swords produced in the early muromachi period, and Mihara for sword produced in the middle to late muromachi period.

This Katana features a suguha Hamon with itame and masame hada, the sword has quite a slender body with quite an intense curve. Which gives it more of an early muromachi or kamakura feeling. The sword is in older polish with some staining and scratches visible, and some light inactive rust on the cutting edge. 

Housed in a shirasaya. A perfect sword for someone who wants to get into collecting Nihonto.
